 I just heard from a trusted friend that GOOGLE is on the March again.

they have sent out their Master spys and are looking for YOU…

If you have a website or a domain name that is using any part of the word “google” embedded into the domain name or title of the website they are comming to search you out…

 Why you may ask?

Well they are hunting down all those would be marketers who use the word “google” for any kind of promotional activity other than the accepted terms for marketing their (google)  products or services.

 And they are comming down hard…with very strong tactics, to get you to take down your website, remove all inference of “Google” from your site, remove any “google” logos or other material that could infer that your site is in any way connect with or attempting to “pass off” the use of their good trade name.

Now as a Marketer I can understand this too a point. They have a very strong brand name, in fact possible the strongest in the World. But that is in fact where the problem begins for them. WHY?

Because Google is now more or less accepted as a generic term for searching or surfing the internet.

As an example of how Generic terms become everyday terms I cite the company “Hoover”. In England People still refer to the “Hoovering their carpet”,  because the Company Hoover Ltd Promoted that term in their early advertising in the 50,s and 60,s and it more or less became the term every houshold in the UK used when they were Vacuuming the carpet, irrespective of what Brand of carpet cleaner they used.

So google found itself in this envied position by promoting the terms ” search the web with google” or “google search” as in “do a google search”

 So now this poor little guy in the UK  has been forced to take his site down and appologise to “Google” just because he had the term “Google” embeded into his website name. To be fair to this Guy he had no intention of using the word “google” as a marketing ploy by try to pass his site of as an official “google” site, far from it.

He was merely trying to sell a few products that he was suggesting to his prospects that the best method for THEM to “market” the product or service he was providing was to use the services of google PPC marketing and Google adsense advertising. He had in fact made this made this quite clear on his website.

So what was the offending domain name…http://www.1stgooglemasterygroup.com/
